Ingredients
  

  • 3 pieces ripe bananas
  • cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a pinch sea salt
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
  • Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Mix in the melted butter with the mashed bananas.
  • Add baking soda and sea salt, stirring to combine.
  • Incorporate sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour, being careful not to overmix.
  • Optionally, fold in walnuts or pecans and/or chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 60-65 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using brown sugar instead of granulated sugar.
