  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • optional toppings: sliced pickles shredded cheese, coleslaw

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Drain excess fat from the skillet.
  • Add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper, sauté for about 5 minutes until tender.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet, stir to combine, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  • Once the mixture thickens, remove from heat.
  • Spoon the mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, add optional toppings, and place the top half on each sandwich.
